Frequently asked questions
Is Her Cycle Compass medical advice?
No. The app offers rough cycle estimates and rule-based suggestions to help you notice patterns. It does not diagnose conditions or replace advice from a doctor or other qualified professional. If something feels wrong, trust your body and speak with someone who can help.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. There are no user accounts or cloud sync in the current version. Your check-ins and settings stay in the app sandbox until you export or delete them.
What does Apple Health access include?
Only menstrual flow history, read with your permission, to help estimate cycle phase and timing. The app does not write to Apple Health and does not read other health categories.
Can my partner see my private notes?
No. Partner view and shared summaries never include private notes or your full check-in history. You choose what appears — phase, needs tags, support cards — through toggles in the app.
Why don’t I see a cycle phase on Today?
Usually one of three things: Health access was denied, there’s no menstrual flow logged in Apple Health (or in the date range the app uses), or you haven’t entered manual cycle details in Settings. The app prefers showing “we don’t know yet” over guessing.
How do I join the TestFlight beta?
When external testing opens, you’ll receive an invite link from App Store Connect. Install TestFlight from the App Store, open the invite, and install Her Cycle Compass. If you expected an invite and didn’t get one, email us — we’ll help sort it out.
Export and import (your check-ins)
Settings includes a backup of your saved check-ins as JSON. This is for moving data between your own devices or keeping a personal archive.
- Export: Settings → export check-in backup → share or save the file somewhere safe.
- Import: Settings → import → choose a previously exported JSON file. Import replaces check-ins on this device — use with care.
- Delete all check-ins: Settings → delete all check-ins. This cannot be undone.
The backup file does not include raw Apple Health samples. Do not send your personal check-in backup to a partner — it’s not formatted for the Partner Viewer.
Partner viewer help
Sharing with a partner is always manual — you decide when to send an updated snapshot. There is no live remote monitoring.
- Share viewer link (preferred): Partner tab → Share viewer link. Your partner opens the link in a browser (works well on Android).
- Share summary file: Exports a small JSON file your partner can open in the Partner Viewer.
- Copy summary text: Pastes a readable text version for messaging apps.
Anyone with a share link can view that snapshot until you send a new one. If you need to stop sharing, send a fresh snapshot with updated toggles or stop distributing the old link.
The Partner Viewer is a static web page — not a login, not sync. Your partner may need to import a newer file when you re-share.
TestFlight troubleshooting
- Install TestFlight from the App Store before opening your invite link.
- If the build expired, wait for a new build or contact us for a fresh invite.
- After installing, complete onboarding and choose For her or For him depending on how you use the app on that device.
- Health permission is asked when you first open a screen that needs cycle timing (for example Today), not during onboarding.
Still stuck? Email support@hercyclecompass.com with your device model, iOS version, and a short description of what you tried. Screenshots help, but never send private notes you don’t want us to see.
